Dr Gyda Sindre is an Associate Professor in International Politics at the University of York, the founder and convener of the Politics After War Network and the Deputy Director of the York Centre for Conflict and Security.
Her research expertise spans the fields of international relations, comparative politics and peace and conflict studies with specific focus on the political transformation of armed groups into political parties, DDR, political party development and democratization after civil wars.
Alongside several journal articles on post-rebel parties, Dr Sindre is the co-editor of the research brief series The Political Dynamics of DDR and the book The Effects of Rebel Parties on Governance, Democracy and Stability After Civil Wars: From Guns to Governing (Routledge 2023).
