Mr. Francis Wairagu is a Senior Research Consultant at The Small Arms Survey (SAS) an independent research project located at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
He previously worked as Team Leader, Programs and Operations and Head of Research and Gender at the Regional Centre on Small Arms in Great Lakes, Horn of Africa and Bordering States (RECSA), an Inter-Governmental Organization mandated to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of the Nairobi Protocol on the Prevention, Control and Reduction of Small Arms and Light Weapons in the Great Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa and Bordering States.
Mr. Wairagu has expertise in the areas of small arms and light weapons, Security Sector Reforms (SSR), Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) and conflicts in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa region.
He holds a master’s degree in Peace and Security Management from Addis Ababa University, a Diploma in Peace and Security from Uppsala University –Sweden and a Master of Philosophy (Mphil) in Philosophy from Moi University in Kenya.
