Agnes Torstensson

Agnes Torstensson is a Desk Officer on Support to Peace Processes and DDR at the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) – the Swedish agency for peace, security and development.

Agnes’ work focuses on preventing recruitment to non-state armed groups and creating the proper conditions for sustainable reintegration, by providing local and national actors with support in capacity development, policy drafting and creating spaces for exchanges of experiences between key actors in DDR. She additionally has experience working on international, national and local policy development within the field of DDR, with a specific focus on local reintegration modalities.

Agnes has valuable experience in delivering trainings on issues pertaining to DDR, with a specific focus on children and youth in DDR processes, as well as community-based reintegration approaches. She has additionally provided specific support to the European Union in the organization’s development of it’s approach to DDR, including acting as Course Director for the first ever training on “Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration within the EU Integrated Approach”.

Agnes holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po in Paris, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict studies from Uppsala University.
